My mother came to visit me in Columbus, Ohio in May of 1991. It was the weekend after Mothers' Day. I went to work on Monday and she called me about 9 AM to say she was really feeling bad. I told her that I would come home but if she needed to to call 911. When I got home the squad was in the driveway. She was suffering a heart attack. So she stayed with me for several months, during which time we girls decided Mom did not need to be in Clinton while we were living away from there. So she agreed and sold the house on Main Street after 30 years. We let her choose where she wanted to go and she chose Columbus because Doris and her husband traveled in the winter and Helen's husband had just accepted a position in Georgia and they knew they would be there for five years before he retired.
So we found Mom a little three room apartment near my home. She lived there six years when again we decided it was time for another change. So in 1997 she moved to an assisted living facility in Kokomo. This was near my sister Helen. In Feb of 2000 she was found to have colon cancer. She then died in May. She was buried the day before Mothers' Day.
