In this chapter Alex Beider discusses the Nine Types  that he uses to categorize Jewish surnames. We have reproduced a portion of the article that deals with Levite and Rabbinical names. Horowitz is a Levite, Rabbinical and toponym. We did not include all the part discussing toponyms because the name is well covered in the earlier two parts.
