- Julie Matthews, e-mail 7 Aug 2008 to Dave Howard and Roy Richard Thomas:
". . . Old family Bible had birth and death dates as follows:
Jane, wife of George departed this life on the 8th day of October 1822, being 77 years of age.
George Wright departed this life the 27th day of July 1838 at age 81 years.
Jane Wright departed this life on the 12th day of January 1852. (Note with this that she was the widow of Robert and living with a daughter Lucinda Wright Melton in Harrison County, IN.)
The Bible belonged to Earl and Clara Mae Melton, great grandson of Lucinda Wright Melton.
George and Jane's daughter, Jane is the interesting one, according to some four different sources, all of the word-of-mouth variety, I'm afraid.
Jane was kidnapped by Indians when the Wrights were travelling through South Carolina on their way to Indiana. When Jane returned to her parents, she had a half-Indiana boy named Elijah, who was raised by the George/Jane family."
