The following obit for Mary appeared in the May 27, 2000 Winchester Star:
Mary Elizabeth Pifer Leight, 75, of 1811 Berryville Pike, Winchester, formerly of Clearbrook, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Leight was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Middleway, W.V., the daughter of George C. and Edna Nicely Pifer. S he was a graduate of Berryville High School. She was a member of Galilee Christian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and a member of the Ladies Fellowship Circle.
She married Robert Leight on June 19, 1943, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Leight died on June 16, 1984.
Surviving are two sons, K. Robert Leight of Stephens City and Richard Leight of Clearbrook; two daughters, Charlotte Moulden and Betty L. Snapp, both of Clearbrook; two sisters, Betty W. Nicodemus of Middleway and Edna M. Owens of Clearbrook; two brothers, William C. Pifer and Francis E. Pifer, both of Middleway; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Moulden Officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Leight, Paul L. Snapp, Timothy J. Snapp, Jeffery A. Moulden, C. Scott Moulden, and Richard A. Nicodemus. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
