- Find-A-Grave: "Harvey Jiles Willis, the son of Owen Willis and Luranna Watts orginally of Virginia, was born on March 20, 1820 in Grayson County, Kentucky. His father Owen Willis was the Enumerator of the 1810 Census of Grayson County. Harvey married Artimetia Magdalene Thomas, the daughter of Isaac Thomas and Mary Magdalene Goldsberry.
In 1860 Harvey Jiles Willis was listed as a Farmer. In 1870 he was listed in Leitchfield as a Merchant. At the time of the 1880 Census of Leitchfield the family consisted of: H. J., a farmer, age 60; his wife Artemitia M., a house keeper, age 52; and children: Henry H., a clerk in a store, age 19; Burdia T., age 14; Aggie J., age 12; and Harvey J., age 9. Also living with the family was Susan Willis, a black servant, age 69. All were born in Kentucky.
Harvey died on October 5, 1904 in Grayson County. He was buried in the Thomas Cemetery in Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky. His wife preceded him there after her death on July 9, 1895. Also buried in the Thomas Cemetery are their sons: Isaac, John D. and Henry Willis and their daughters Mary Loriane Hill and Bertie T. Berry."
