- According William Nelson genealogy, Joseph was also an engineer and had six children. He reportedly died in 1781. In a letter written by Jonathan Jr. to his uncle Josiah in March 1789 he mentions his "Uncle Joseph's family." (Joseph being Josiah's older brother.)

Joseph Hornblower worked closely with Thomas Newcomen and installed his steam engines in the coal mines. He was instrumental in moving this technology, the Baptist religion and his family to Cornwall. |
