"Know all men by these presents, that we Henry Deal and Mariah M. Bolick, of the County of Davidson and State of Tennessee for & with good causes and considerations, we thereunto moving have made constituted and approved and by there presents do the giving onto bargain sell alien & confirm constitute & appoint Isaac Lourance of the County of McNairy and State aforesaid one true and lawful attorney us and in our names to ask demand sue for and recover of and from any person or persons who may have the same all our part or distributive share of our Father, Jacob Deals [Sr.'s], Estate who died in Lincoln County North Carolina, both real and personal or mixt and to give good and valid receipts for all or any part that he our said Attorney may receive also to sell and convey all our Interest in our Fathers' land and make a good and Sufficient right or Quit claim of the same in our name to any person or persons our said Attorney may think proper and for such price or sum of Money he may think fit also to ask demand sue for and recover from any persons or persons who may have the same in possession all our Distributive share of our fathers Estate Adam Bolick, who died in Lincoln County North Carolina, both real and personal and mixt and to give good and valid receipts for all or any part of our father's land (of) Adam Bolick being in Lincoln County, North Carolina to any person he our said attorney may think proper and in or name to give good and sufficient Right title or Quit claim of the same and to authorize our said attorney to employ Attorney in fact who may be useful in closing and setling [sic] said Business hereby ratifying and confirming all the lawful acts of our said attorney in and about the premises in as full ample a Manner as we might or could do were we personally present doing the same. In testimony whereof we hereunto set our hands and affix our seals this 18th of January 1836 Signed Sealed and delivered (his Mark) in the presences of s/Henry X Deal Thomas Purdue s/ Mariah X Deal J. J. Everett (her Mark) State of Tennessee /Davidson County Personally appeared before me Jacob M. Gavock Clerk of the Circuit Court for Davidson County Thomas Purdue and J. J. Everett subscribing witnesses to this foregoing power of attorney who being first sworn depose and & say that they are acquainted with Henry Deal and Mariah M. Deal his wife the constituents and that they acknowledge the same to be their act & did for the purposes therein contained on this day and Mariah M. Deal, the feme, Covert having also personally appeared before me privately and apart from her husband the said Henry Deal acknowledged the execution of the within power of attorney to have been done by her freely and voluntarily and understanding without compulsion or restraint from her said Husband for the purposes therein Expressed In testimony thereof I Jacob M. Gavock Clk of said Court hereunto set my hand cause the seal of said court to be herewith affixed at office in Nashville the 19th day of January A.D. 1836. S/Jacob Gavock"
