- Doc Lynch gaduated rom the University of Iowa Medical School and served as a surgeon during World War I. He served in the Second Army in support of the battles of the Marne, Belleau Woods, Champagne, and the Argonne Forest. He was discharged with the rank of Captain, Medical Corps. He was in private practice in Des Moines, Iowa for many years as a specialist in the eye, ear, nose, and, throat. He was particularly well known as an eye surgeon. Dr. Lynch was honored by the American College of Surgeons by being selected to go to India to perform eye surgery for a year. During that time he performed hundreds of cataract operations.
