In June 1914 Jessie was in Washington, DC with her daughter Gladys, helping to care for her daughter Vida Jone Bradford. Vida was recovering from the birth of her daughter Lucile Bradford.

Jessie explains some of her frustrations with genealogical research. She also complains about the heat.

This letter was transcribed and printed in the Penrose Publication.

Note from Susan Richter-Beckley - 7 Jun 2007: This morning I was looking through a little box on my dresser for something else and came across a crumbling piece of newspaper...it was a poem Daddy had cut out of the paper when he and Mom were first married and had given to her. She kept it in her wallet for the rest of her life. She made me promise to always keep it. I'm afraid it's not all together anymore---but I wrote down what it said before it deteriorated too much.
